Question about Sata300

Can these 7200rpm drives even come close to filling the bandwidth? Because I could spend 70 bucks and get the seagate with sata300 or save it and get the wd for 200, and i might buy two drives (400gig) for raid 0 for video work at hella fast speeds =)
 
How much does NCQ help and in what type of hard drive enviroment, does NCQ have to be supported by the motherboard?

In a multi-user setting NCQ can help:

However, multi-user in this respect means file-server environment. If I am not mistaken (and I do not know much about video editing) your workload is very sequential in nature, so I would doubt there be much benefit from NCQ.

Yes, the Mobo/ Controller card needs to support NCQ in order to get the benefits from it.
 
i just got 2 wd2500ks drives and they list as supporting ncq, but i cant seem to enable ncq. other than that i love the drives, but not used them for video editing yet.


any ideas? not meaning to hijack your thread. i just felt it was relevant.

Considering the PCI bus is only 133MB/second, even if it could reach 300MB/second your max would be 133MB/second assuming you are using a controller on the PCI bus.
