I'm wondering... If you have an hdtv that has no vga plug but it has an S-Video plug and you're video card has an S-Video plug also would I be able to plug in the computer to it and would it look good?

you cant do it but im sure its not impossible. It would take a crap load of up converting but i think it is possible.

It will still look like crap on your HDTV.

Say if you rate composite plug a 2/10, S-video is like a 2.5 or 3/10 picture.

So, What about VGA? Would that be HD?

By the way... thanks for all the help! :)

VGA is analog, and capable of far greater than HD resolutions. What resolutions the display you are using supports under VGA is the real question.

Right now I have a 37" Olevia at 1360 X 768 via VGA

Just yesterday I connected my VGA to my Samsung LCD using s-video with that little component TV-out breakout box. I have VGA out on it but wanted to test the S-Video out. One thing you have to do though is make sure your desktop resolution and refresh rate matches the your LCD TV. It looked to be about the same quality as VGA but there was tearing.

You must be bad at calibrating your display.

There's no way a 1280x720, 1366x768 progressive image is anywhere close to 720x480 (720x240) interlaced crap.

@OP
Does your tv have a DVI or component input?

If it does, you may be able to just get a VGA to DVI or a VGA to component cable and get ANALOG HD signal to your TV.

Question.....can I connect both VGA and DVI to my LCD and swutch between them whilst the desktop is active?
