Question about RAID 1

I currently have 2 74gb raptors in RAID 0. my 160gb hard drive failed with a copy of all my files and music. luckily it was in warranty and i got a refurbished one back. Seeing this i believe my setup just isn't going to work. I don't want to have to go through reinstalling all my programs if it were my primary hard drive that failed. I need to have a raid 1 and since prices on 150-160gb raptors are so low now i was wondering if my western digital caviar 160gb hard drive can be placed in raid 1 a 160gb raptor Ii may purchase? off websites they're a bitt brief a site said raid 1 is used with hard drives with the "same space" but don't clarify if it must be the same drive company, model, etc.
 
You do not need 2 hard drives with the same space for raid 1, but the array will be whatever the smaller sized drive is. For example, one drive is 40gb, the other is 80gb, you will have 40gb of usable space. Things tend to work better however if you use 2 of the same drive. Also, using a raptor in raid 1 would be a waste of a raptor. Overall performance is slower in raid 1 than that of a single drive.
