Ok I'm just a little confused what is the difference between a 24 and a 20+4 connector?
Older motherboards required a 20-pin ATX connector. When the newer boards came out with a 24-pin connector, it was up to manufacturers to figure out the best way to accommodate both designs.
Turns out you can do it fairly easily by making the last 4 pins on the 24-pin connector "break off" and detach, allowing you to use all 24-pins at once or just 20-pins depending on your board.
I knew something was wrong thanx, bought a power supply for my bro's comp mobo's 20pin ordered a psu that says 20+4 but its fixed cant break off 4 guess i gotta rma thanx
Is there anything obstructing letting the other 4 pins hang off?
He means, can you still plug it in leaving the 4 extra pins hanging off the side? That works sometimes.. If not, then there is also this, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200065 ,which should do the trick just fine...
I tried, it won't gowon't fit
