question about precalibrated monitors

When a monitor comes pre calibrated (like the LGs), are the calibrated settings hardcoded into the monitor? If I mess around with the settings but decide to go back to the original calibrated settings and hit reset on the monitor, will it go back to it's proper calibrated settings or will i be boned and have to calibrate the monitor all over again?

The calibrated mode is usually locked. In my case I've got a Samsung S27B970D (which comes pre-calibrated) and the calibration profile is on by default on all the monitor modes, so there is a couple dedicated calibrated modes which are locked, and then "standard" and "high bright" which also use the calibrated profile, but allow you to adjust color temperature, gamma etc as well.

The profile is stored separately from the OSD settings, so if I change the settings under "standard" the calibration profile isn't messed up in any of the other modes. I don't think it's removed by a factory reset. You can only overwrite it using the calibration software that came with the monitor.
