Hey all. I want ask about graphic card. Random BSODS can damage graphic card?
Yesterday i was have massive BSODS on my system while playing Black Ops. But i repair that. Bsoding was causing bad software, like deamon tools.
But i want to know ,that is any risk to damage GPU graphic card from BSODS in games( restarts pc ) ? I know that i am little oversensitive. But i am only asking.

Gpu is:
Msi Gtx 680 Twin Frozr

As long as the voltage and heat is not over spec limits you should be ok. GPU damage is usually indicated by graphic artifacts and lockups while playing or using 3D apps.

If the BSOD was caused by software, then your GPU should be fine. Like fdiaz78 stated, unless the software was causing your GPU to run out of spec or overheat, software only issues should cause zero damage to your hardware.

Can restart pc from games ( when card was hot ) dont damage graphic card? I ask because i was have bluescreens from bad deamon tools. But now all is ok.
But i want simply ask, can hard restarts ( no matter BSOD or not )pc from games can damage GPU?

No, when the PC shuts down so does the graphics card. When that happens the card stops producing heat and will instantly start to cool.

Yes i know , but temperature GPU after restart from game is immediately going down , and this is not bad?

You expect the GPU to stay at a higher temperature when the computer/game is restarting?

No no but i am asking. That this is not harmful action? When pc restarts from GAME, and temp of GPU is just immediately going down.

If your system were to shut off during a gaming session, then you might damage the card as the temp of GPU could briefly spike up as the active cooling turns off on your video card and case. After a brief spiking of temps, it would begin to cool.

If your system is restarting immediately, then the active cooling continues with a power reduction to the GPU which would cool it down quickly and avoid any damage.

If you're talking about physical damage to the GPU it would be overvolting and excessive heat. We're talking 90C+ for excessive amount of time. I had a system shutdown in with my 7970 because I was pushing my overclock too high when I first got these cards. But the shutdown is protect the GPU from total hardware failure and is somewhat forgiving with the shutdown. Lets say terminal temperature is 100C. It will have a system shutdown at 95C.

BSOD themselfs doesn't necessarly mean the videocard will be damaged. It would be many factors. Software/hardware conflicts occur all the time. Unless you have a "pure" Windows 7 install with nothing running other sound/video/NIC drivers, you should be pretty much BSOD free. You didn't contaminate the OS with unnessary software that are in the startup.
