Question about pixel pitch

I notice on the LCD monitor specs that different size monitors have different pixel pitches.

17" - .264
19" - .294
20" - .258
21" - .270

I assume that means that a defined portion of a 1200 x 1024 screen on a 19" monitor takes up more screen real estate than on a 17" because of the larger pixel size?

If I am deciding between 17" and 19" monitors, and both use 1200 x 1024 natively, would the 17" look better based solely on the smaller pixel size?
 
Yes. IMO, buying a 19" over 17" is pointless since they both have the same resolution so you just get bigger pixels and grainy picture with the 19". 19" is only useful if you are going to look at the monitor from a bigger distance.

Really...do some math, your theory doesn't seem to work. ;) Then I suggest you go look at a good 21" or larger compared to the same companies same quality 17".

Im not sure when the step down from 1280x1024 is for LCDs, but the step up to 16x12 is generally 20" (which is why I got my 2000FP).
So if you want more screen real estate (more stuff on the screen at once) you have to step to a 20".
If you want to see the same thing from further away you get a bigger screen.
