I just got my hands on a P4 3.6 GHz ES CPU. I was told it was a regular 560, however CPUz shows it as a 561 with x86-64 enabled. Does anyone know anyting about this chip. Ive never heard of a 561 chip.

It's a 540 chip (3.6Ghz) with the "J" - XD bit feature, 1MB L2 cache and x86-64 (EMAT64) extensions. Hence the 561. If it has the 2MB L2 cache it would be the same as a 640.

Indeed, you are a lucky fellow

Yes, I have the same CPU. CPUZ 1.26 reports the proper clock speed and multiplier of the CPU. Whereas 1.27.2 does not:

It is quite a clocker. I got mine running at 4Ghz with a 250FSB. Rock solid stable.

The new 500 series... (1Mb 775 pin P4's) with 64-bit enabled + 1

Therefore, a P4 560 with 64-bit = P4 561

All 600 series have 64-bit & 2Mb.

I to have a 561 ES but the owner of it b4 me has screen shot's showing it as a E0..now that i have it it say's it's a D0??? WTF???

Update to the latest version of CPU-Z maybe?

The 500 series and Celeron D's, I though were almost all E0's
The 600 series I think are all N0 steppings. (= great overclockers)

No, that 2.8ghz CPU only has one multiplier, 14x. Only the higher end ES models have ALL the multipliers, IE: 14-19.

I have one of those 2.8Ghz 518 ES chips in my collection and yes, 14x is the only multiplier available. It ultimately varies from chip to chip as to what is unlocked or not.

I do uses some of them, see the one in my sig, and my GF's comp has a 2.533 ES thats mine as well. I have about 12 or 13 assorted ES chips in total now and I just got 2 more off ebay that are on their way. They're not all P4s, they go from a P-Pro on up to a matched pair of Itanium ES's.
