Question about Overclocking

I have a AMD athlon 64 3200+ Venice with a zalman fan on top of it.

I also have 2 gigs of PQI Turbo ram at latency of 3-4-4-8

Will I be able to Overclock my processor to say.....2.7GHz or 2.8 with the RAM I have?

I just got told from somebody that with the RAM I have I will not be able to overclock very well because it will hold my processor back.
 
The ram isnt really an issue since you could toss in a divider for low performance hit. Depends on several factors

1) How good of an overclocker your chip is
2) Overall ambient temps in the case, as they will effect your cpu temp
3) How good of an overclocker your mobo is
4) How much patience you have

2.7-2.8Ghz I'd say no... but you never konw
 
Ok cool, since I will want to look into overclocking in the future.

2.7-2.8 is possible, just not guaranteed. Just find out the max speed that ram will do, and adjust your the appropriate mem divider to keep your ram just under its max speed.
