Back when the P2's came out some people were doing some pretty crazy stuff with over clocking.

I remember they were using some sort of heat transfer plate topped with water cooling.

Does anyone still do that sort of thing? My memory is fuzzy but I recall people stating that they were able to drop the temp down well into the negatives on celsius. And the water cooling was needed because of how hot the other side of the plate would get.

That's called a TEC cooler, and there are still some around. It's mostly gone on the wayside in favor of much more efficient watercooling, and if you really wanted sub-ambient, bong chillers and phase change were much more efficient in terms of energy usage.

Yup peltier cooling. Thing is they requier their own power source. And generate a lot of heat.

Ah yes peltiers. I remember those days. I've not done any serious OC'ing since my Celeron 300mhz days to be honest. Although I do have a I7 k series and a i5 k series I am interested in OC'ing sometime in the future.

Just gotta get the money together first. Been throwing to much money into my home server and my entertainment center as of late /lol
