Question about Nvidia cards.

Apparently, due to the newer drivers ATI cards can not play some older games such as Call of Duty 1. Has this been fixed, or should I get an nvidia card?

Well, being a NVIDIA owner I can guarantee that Call of Duty 1 works without problems (I've had two LANs in the last week, where it was the main game). But last I read, NVIDIA also has some problems with other older games. At least I remember reading about it in here, just don't remember which games were mentioned.
 
Adding to this, here's the list of some of the old games I played recently without problems in LANs, on NVIDIA graphics:

Call of Duty 1
Call of Duty 2
UT 2004
FlatOut 2 (from 2006, not really old, but not new either)

Someone posted a long list of games that don't work due to AMD's driver not supporting OpenGL or something. They were games such as COD1 and quake games.

I'm guessing you want to not only run older games, but also newer ones ? That card is powerful enough for most new games out there now, up to 1920x1200 and with high quality settings.

But If you want a card mostly to play old games, a GTS 450 is more than enough for all old and some new games, while costing almost half that.
 
Cant recall any games that haven't worked on my Nvidia card.
 
Yeah, I actually have been wanting to upgrade for awhile. Mainly for a performance boost, get DX11, and now allow me to play some of my older games as well.
 
CS 1.6 still works fine. That's probably the oldest game I still have, then it's probably Doom 3, which also runs great.
