Hey, I'm interested in trying out this concept of lapping a CPU, only thing is I don't want to mess up my CPU.
I have a few old systems lying around, a 496, pentium, a pentium pro and a pentium 2 with mmx it might be a p1 with mmx I can't quite recall.
Anyway to my question I was reading and the cpu must have an integrated heat spreader (IHS).
Just wondering if anyone knows if these older CPUs have them.
Or if anyone knows somewhere I can go to find out.

I don't believe they did. I believe the IHS was put on the newer Pentium 4 processors and later, and the Athlon 64's. Maybe the TBreds.
