Question about installing hard drives

I have an 80GB WD harddrive (see sig) and it's just not enough space anymore, so I was thinking about getting a 200 or 250GB to add onto it. Is it ok to buy a SATA hard drive? My motherboard supports it, but my current hard drive is IDE so I was wondering if Windows would have problems recognizing the SATA one? If it's gonna be a problem I can just buy an IDE hard drive as my secondary harddrive.
 
You should have no problems - maybe a driver update for the SATA controller. I have two IDE drives running with a SATA drive I just popped in a couple weeks back.
 
Just check to make sure the mobo will let you specify which to boot to. Some OEM systems (dell and HP for example) on some machines will by default boot the sata drive if both are installed, which could be a mess, and they won't let you boot the IDE with both installed, so just might want to check that out. If it's newer or not an OEM system, you have no worries.
