Question about HDMI

It only matters if you plan on hooking your laptop to a HDTV or a projector.

Pretty much what he said, and even then its not that big of a deal as you can just use VGA with most TVs (most LCDs, Plasmas, DLPs, etc. have a VGA IN).

Well, HDMI does look better than VGA, especially on a large HDTV. Of course, that isn't a concern if the laptop isn't going to be used with a TV.

another factor to consider with HDMI is that sound can be transmitted over the HDMI cord. i might end up getting the dell xps 13 incher with HDMi; just do all my work on the screen and when i want to hook it up to a TV, i use the HDMI (to get video and sound). the remote is an add on so i can sit on my couch.
