Careful. If that's the exact card you have, I don't think that is a reference card, based on the pictures. If it is not a reference card, it may or may not work with the waterblock, since they are almost all exclusively designed for use with reference cards.

As for one block vs another, they all perform very similarly.

that block is for reference revision 2, which is what that card is (from what i can tell, since other blocks with similar naming schemes/wording are listed to work with the card, like a danger den one and a Swiftech one)

Well, reference versions usually have the AMD or nVidia logo stamped right on top of the PCI-E slot connection. Based on the Amazon photos, I do not see the AMD logo, which is why I'm concerned.

I had the same concern, ill get the link to the swifttech and danger den one when I get home to show you what I mean

Like I stated above, my only concern is the question of whether you have a reference 6970 or not. Look at your card and see if the screw holes match up with that on a reference card (use internet pictures).

There's nothing wrong with them.

What went wrong with EK is that EK used a crappy nickel plating process that had the nickel plating fall off. That in itself isn't that bad, companies make mistakes sometimes, but the real bad part was that they blamed users and retailers for the nickel plating problems, instead of admitting that it was their fault. And they refused to replace defective parts, saying it was the user's fault for using it incorrectly.

I submitted a ticket yesterday with Sapphire to make sure, they responded that it is a reference AMD board, the 2nd reference.

and ahh, that makes sense on the EK thing.

Thanks Tsumi, think ill order them in a day or so.

I ran 2 6950's unlocked and OC'd with Alphacool NexXxos reference blocks, and i had no issues. They cooled effectively. If I can find an Alphacool block for the 7970 I ordered, I would buy it without a doubt.

Seems like a good price too. I ordered mine from performance-pcs.com, and for your items, it's $210 before shipping.

Looking at some more stuff here, http://www.frozencpu.com/products/1...acing_-_Black_CNT-VDA2-BK.html?tl=g30c101s873

are those any good? Are they reliable?

I bought mine off eBay from this same guy, very trustworthy and cheaper than the stores.

In fact, I got all my compression fittings from him too, since they were cheaper, of you don't mind Koolance products.

Good call, I liked mine. They even came with TIM for the gpu, which my EK didn't.

will that TIM be better than the NH-1 from Noctua i have laying around ?

I honestly didn't use it, just used some AS5 since I had it recently opened. But tbh I wouldn't think that it's going to be anything but a marginal difference, so just use whatever. You can always switch it later if you think temps are higher than they should be. Your NH1 looks comparable to others according to recent round up reviews, maybe a 3*C difference (atleast in CPU testing).

Looks high quality in its build and materials used. Just make sure it is designed for your card.

If they made one for my MSI GTX 560 ti 448 Twin Frozer iii PE/OC I would buy it. Can't go wrong with a full VGA water block that is built right.

From what I can tell it is the right one, but I haven't been able to confirm online.

I'll know this weekend when I get time, they Should be here tomorrow

as for thermal, I'll probably So with the NH-1 as it is the known... and I would rather not have to re-do it.

Thats ballsey to use AS5 on a GPU since its conductive. Maybe it was the ceramique?

I only use Noctura NT-H1 thermal paste based on this article http://skinneelabs.com/2011-tim-results/

It performs in the top 5, is an actual affordable paste like substance, performs well even when you get a bad mount, Also non conductive just in case.

I also have the rev.2 of the sapphire 6970, but mine had a warrior chick on it. I was able to fit the Swifttech Heatsink ATI Radeon HD6970 Series Reference Design with no problems. I prefer seperate GPU block since Ive used it on three different cards so far.

they got here today, and they look really nice, cant wait for the weekend when i can disassemble the loop and get it going :D

Theya re in and all, 1st card in loop seems to be ~2-3 C off of the 2nd card temp wise, during furmark stressing, is this inline with how it should be?

However now when i go to boot up F1 2011 (only game iv tried so far) I receive a blue screen while its loading due to ATI Drivers, however I can run furmark for 20 min+ straight with temps not passing 50c on the hot card.

The BSOD could be due to bad drivers, AMD is notoriously slow with coming out with proper crossfire drivers.

That 2-3C difference could simply be due to differences in TIM spread/how good it is applied. You can't get the exact same mount every time.

Same drivers i had no issues prior to install, even wiped/cleaned

seems F1 2011 is just throwing a fit, booted up Civ V w/o issue.
