I recently upgraded everything except my video card (hd5870/PCIe 2.0) and am now getting 100fps higher in GW2. I was expecting a modest bump, but nowhere near what I got. The one thing that I am most attributing to the increase is that the old mobo was PCIe 1.0 and the new one is PCIe 3.0, allowing my card to run at it's native 2.0 speeds. Is this assumption correct? Is the PCIe version upgrade responsible for this large jump in FPS?

Old:

abit ip35-pro
q9550 @ 3.4
4GB corsair xms3
32mb cache
32bit Win7

New:
Asus P8Z77 -V LX
i5 3570K @ 3.8
16GB XMS3
120GB SSD OCZ Agility (OS and some apps)
64MB cache hdd (Apps, games, downloads)
64bit Win7

The processor bump and to some extent the move from ddr2->ddr3 are probably contributing a decent portion of performance for you as well, especially in cpu heavy games and at lower reolutions. I noticed a huge difference in gta4 way back when I first upgraded to 2500k but kept the same gpu.

I'm not sure how much/or if being in the 1.0 slot was holding you back, since those cards generally performed pretty good/mostly the same in x8 2.0 slots too, which should be roughly equivalent in bandwidth to what you had.

Either way you got a nice jump, so grats on successful upgrades.

I'm sure the jump to a x64 OS with 4gb and higher total system memory combined with the CPU was a big factor. If i'm not mistaken, GW2 is pretty cpu intensive.
