alright, i have just purchaced a maxtor maxline 10 200gb hard drive and installed it, it is recognized in CMOS, but windows doesnt recognize it, how can i solve this problem? i have looked under device manager and it recognizes it, but under My Computer, it will not recognize the drive. I have my WD raptor as C:\ and my DVD burner as D:\ FYI.

thanks for your help, sparky1

go to:

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Managment > Storage > Disk Managment

It should show up in as one of the drives listed in the lower right. Right click on the "graph" area and select format. Once the drive is done formatting you will be able to see and use it.

Hope this helps

thnx man, do you know how long it will generally take to format a drive this large?

edit: NVM, it shouldnt take that long... it hit 1% after like 30 seconds :p
