question about flashing 9800 to XT

it says i need a floppy drive... i dont have one... but my laptop has one and ive got the cable that i can connect via the printer port... would that work? or does that port not get enabled untill windows starts to load?
 
I'm pretty sure that a parallel floppy isnt going to work. Do you just not have a floppy drive, or is your floppy port on your motherboard broken? If you need the drive you should be able to borrow one from a friend or just get one from a parts store for under $20. You could also look into making a bootable cd that just gives you a DOS prompt with the flash and the bin on the cd and then boot from CD.
 
I don't remember what I used but I flashed my 9800pro to XT without a floppy.
I know cause my computer doesn't have a floppy either. It was some program that flashed for me.
 
no i had a floppy drive.... from 2 computers ago... that i have been reusing... but i guess it crapped out....my friend is gonna bring his floppy drive over
