Question about eyefinity and different resolution monitors

Does eyefinity work with different resolution monitors? Say 1280x1024 + 1920x1080 + 1280x1024? Or does it need all three to have a common resolution? I've been googling this for a couple of days now and I get confusing answers.
 
I have run the following: one 20" 1680x1050 + one 24" 1920x1200 + one 20" 1680x1050. With current drivers, betas included, all three monitors need to run at 1680x1050, yielding a max EF resolution of 5040x1050. All three monitors are 16:10 aspect ratio.

AMD has been marketing EF 2.1 to be able to run each monitor at its native resolution via custom resolution settings, but I'm not seeing that option with my 5870. Others with 79xx cards seem to report the lack of custom resolution support with the EF 2.1 beta drivers as well. Be cool if they could solve that and allow PLP setups with their drivers.

Thanks. It's a bummer that they still haven't been able to implement this.
 
Yea. We're all waiting. In my case, I understood my compromises being made before hand and the two side monitors yield what I was hoping for, to get away from the boxy feeling of a single screen. However, BF3, even at low settings, is a bear in EF, especially with a 5870. However, HL2 is wicked pissah! I'll wait till I can get a 7970 to try EF for BF3 again.
