Why does explorer.exe have a TCP connection to Microsoft (65.52.108.217)?

It's Microsoft's OS, it'll do pretty much whatever they want it to do and if that means "calling home" now and again well, you're only going to be able to do so much about it. ;)

the google says it belongs to bingbot. you got bing search or toolbar or something like that?

Where did you see that IP listed? netstat?

No, I first noticed it yesterday when I ran speccy and looked at Network and then Current TCP Connections and it showed explorer.exe but not the IP address it was connected to. Then later I ran Resource Monitor and it too showed TCP connection to explorer.exe and also listed the IP address so did a whois on the address and it came back Microsoft.

I don't use bing and have default search engine set to duckduckgo.

F U, I'm just curious to know why and not because I am paranoid about it. I can easily block it with a firewall if I so choose.
