I currently have Windows 7 Home Premium installed on my laptop. If I install linux mint as a dual boot and later decide to remove it, can I delete it's partition or will I have to do a clean format of the disk?

You can delete your linux partition without reformatting the entire disk. You can either create a new NTFS-formatted partition in its place or resize/extend your windows partition to fill up the unused space.

EDIT: Nearly forgot, be sure you have a Windows 7 install disc handy if you decide to remove your linux installation. Most of the time (if not all) many linux distros will replace the Windows boot loader with their own (e.g. GRUB), so you'll need that Windows disc to restore the original boot loader.
