Question about Dremel find today

If anybody is a Dremel expert, I have an interesting question for you. Today, I stopped by one of the local pawn shops, and made an interesting find. A complete Dremel kit for less than $20.00, in excellent condition. The question I have, is, how old is this damn thing?

The label on the side of the Dremel says DREMEL Moto-Tool, Solid State speed control. Model 380, Series 66-3, Ball Bearing Construction.

My thought is that is was made in 1966, probably in the third quarter of the year.

Anybody got any ideas?? :)
 
I had done that... problem was that I could not find any dates for model number manufacturing, or if there was a way to date them. I will post a couple of pics of it here shortly... it is a very intriguing Dremel...

I just googled the moto tool 380 and could not find anything about a date but i did find out that every current attachment and accessory is compatible with the 380 series so as long as it works i think its a good buy :D

Yeah, the Dremel works freakin' awesome... I was doing some preliminary airflow improvement work on my Sonata with it this evening, and it was just screaming through the steel construction.

I'll fix the pics tomorrow, when my batteries get done charging.
 
you could always contact the manufacuturer

if it's UL listed and has the number on the sticker, you can seach by that as well.
 
Why are you so interested in when it was made? If the thing works, who cares?

We have the exact same kit at work.
 
Dude, go spend $40 at Wal-Mart get the Multipro variable speed Dremel with kit. I love mine and its worth every penny. I had a 30 year old dremel that my father had before I was born and that thing was barely able to cut through Antecs steel cases

Or spend the big $$ and get the xpr400 kit with the flex shaft and circle cutter...it cost me $80 but DAMN its nice
 
Curiosity I guess. Nothing more, nothing less.

I just thought maybe someone would know, no big deal. BTW, this thing freaking screams! Cut out the back of my Sonata in preparation to mount my router in the case, and it smoked the back of the steel case.
