Question about Dell returns

Howdy all,

I've got a friend who recently purchased a 2007WFP. Of course, he got an A00 and had to go through with the replacement. The replacement A02 arrives, and he ships the A00 back. All seems fine and dandy, right?

Well, I just get a call from him that UPS dropped off another Dell box at his house. Another 2007WFP A02. He checked his Dell account, and sure enough, there is a hold on the account for a second replacement monitor. However, the hold is only 220 bucks, not the full price of the monitor.

I've been searching around for some details about Dell's return policy. Basically, he is wondering if he should just keep this second monitor. The question is, will he get charged the 220 that is the hold on the account, or will he get charged the full price of the monitor once they realize he isn't sending it back? If he can keep it, he'll probably eBay it or something to get some $$$ from it.

Anyone know anything that could help him out? TIA.

But if they did, it would probably be full retail (aka 479$)

Is it worth the risk?

Thats what we were worried about, nijle4u.

I PM'd Chris_M on the Dell forums to ask what he thinks. If he says 220 is all he'd need to pay, it might be worth keeping.

cool, just do it then. If it all goes down badly, you can always bitch about it or call your CC company, and just ship the monitor back.

Well, I PM'd Chris_M at the Dell forums, and he said all I'd be charged would be the 220. Sweet, dual 20" widescreens for under 600 bucks.

Here's another question...if I have a problem with this 2nd monitor, it shouldn't be any trouble to get it serviced, right?
