i have a 780 coming this week with water blocks. i have in my system right now a 670 water cooled. what if i decided to keep the 670 and run it as a dedicated physic card. i know its over kill, but, will i benefit in games that support it. is anyone else running the same setup? will i be able to run my 780 at x16 3.0, and the 670 at 8x 3.0? i have a asus z77 deluxe mb. if it is doable what slots should i use? i do have a sound card using a pci e slot as well. and my system is water cooled.

I was running a 660 as the Physx card after upgrading to the 780 and TBH, I noticed no change in performance. Physx, even on the games that support it, doesn't rape your existing card as much as people think, especially once you're in the 600/700 series. I'd probably just try reselling the 670 and get some money back if it were me while you still can.

As far as slots go, the top one is always the one you want to use for your main video card. Then I'd put the sound card in the PCIe x1 slot thats left (one will be stripped) and the 670 below it.

thanks for the reply. i was thinking about the future as well. maybe there will be more games coming that would use the extra gpu power of a 670 for a physic card.
