question about daisy chaining

i am about to buy another Western Digital My Book Premium Edition 500 GB External Hard Drive (as shown in the image below)

I was just wondering what happens if i lend one of my external harddrives to a friend after they have been daisy chained, like is it possible to still access only half my files?

I am also wondering if it would be possible to daisy chain 2 harddrives that already have a bunch of stuff on each drive that was added before they were daisy chained, and still keep the information from both drives.
 
More information is needed. What do you mean by daisy chained? It couldnt hurt to try the drive, so youre safe in trying to access your files.

i mean i am going to daisy chain my current WD drive to another identicle one, and i was wondering what would happen if i unplugged one and only viewed the one harddrive.
 
The two drives will show up as separate drive letters. Plugging only one in will cause only that drive letter to show up. I don't know if the drive will show up with the proper drive letter, though, so installing programs to the external drives could cause problems. Try it before you start relying on it.

From my limited English knowledge I understand `daisy chaining' to imply this:
Code: 
[PC]--- FW Cable ---[Drive1]--- FW Cable ---[Drive2]
If you unplug Drive1, both HDDs will not longer be available, since there is no more connection to the PC. If you unplug Drive2, the data on Drive1 will still be available, the data on Drive2 will be offline. The two drives will share the bandwidth that is available on the Firewire bus.
 
My thoughts exactly. I think daisy chaining wasn't the precise word he was looking for.
 
so it wont appear as 1 harddrive, shoot i thought thats what daisy chaining was
