Hi [H], this is my first post here. I want to know why I got slow read/write on my new SSD. The drive have the last firmware 1.3.3 and I have the last firmware on my motherboard ( Gigabytes MA785GM-US2H. I know my motherboard is not Sata2 but I think there's something wrong. Here's a screenshot of my Crystalbench

I'm on AHCI and I use the lastest driver for the Sata. Do you got some advice?

This is your system drive so installed software such as virus protection can put a hit on performance. The 785G/710 chipset also doesn't have spectacular SATA throughput. Also, the 90GB version is slower than the 120. Your read rates seem ok, the writes are sub-par. How long have you had the drive? How much have you written to the drive (check crystaldiskinfo for lifetime writes). Do you have TRIM enabled? You might want to do a backup, secure erase and restore.

Thanks for your answer. I got the drive since Monday but I bought it used on [H]. The guy bought it on November 2011 I think. TRIM is enabled as well. If I do a backup, secure erase and restore this will help? Here's the screen of SDD life. For the anti-virus I got Mcafee.

I think it's ok.

Does it feel slow or are you experiencing bad performance? The reads seem to be what other benches show for SATA II. Writes a little bit under, but as mentioned that could just be the SATA controller chipset on the motherboard.

Not really slow or bad performance. I know maybe the board can be the issue since it's Sata 2. I only wanted to know if everything was fine and the performance was good enough.
 
That's a 90GB Force 3 right? That's the best it's going to do with random (incompressible data) used in CDM. To see what it would do with 0 fill, you can change the test from random to 00xfill or 11xfill in the CDM options. The Force3 is using asynchronous NAND flash, and with random data in CDM it's nowhere near as fast as the synchronous NAND equipped Force GT.
 
Yeah it's a Force 3, not the GT one. With the 00xfill I got better result.

Does your motherboard support SATA III? It's definitely in a SATA II port at the moment. The drive is much faster with 0 fill in benchmarks, but that just shows the best possible scenario for the drive. Most data is somewhere in between random and 0 fill.
 
Nope my motherboard is Sata 2. Got a question, if I bought a Sata 3 card PCI e, The SSD will run at the "Full" speed? I mean full because I know each card got a different chipset.
 
It's probably not worth getting a PCI-e card. The benchmarks might be a little bit better, but nothing you'll notice in regular use.
 
Alright, I don't advocate necromancing old threads, but this seems to just be too uncommon to find it anywhere else. I am having the EXACT same problem with my 90gb Force 3. Here is a proper bench of the Force 3 90gb http://vr-zone.com/articles/corsair-force-3-90gb-ssd-drive-review/14346-5.html It shows 139MB write in Crystaldiskmark.

I am using an Asus P8P67 and the ssd is connected to the grey Intel sata 6g port. Once again, sorry for trying to bring back a thread 5 months later. I am really hoping the original poster found a satisfactory resolution to this problem.

haha I'm later too. Just got a 2500k with a p8p67 m pro who got sata3. I'll be fine now :)
Still a great SSD at sata 2
 
I have the 60gig version of this drive on a asus m4a87td/usb3, on the sata3 port, Win7U, running microsoft ahci driver not the amd one because the driver would constantly bluescreen.

At best I get roughly decent sata2 speeds or about what you are seeing. I've had a lot of issues with this drive from the day I got it. Usually from random reboots, inconsistant performance between reboots, to it not coming back from sleep mode. The firmware updates did fix my issues, but peak performance was just never there. I do a lot of audio and video editing so a speedy drive really makes the process easier but not having peak speeds I was a little disapointed. It could have been my motherboard but folks with the same chipset(SB850) just a different motherboard had the same issues.

I plan to use this drive in my htpc down the road when I upgrade in a few months.
 
Seriously I never got a problem with mine. Still run like a champ since the day I got it. Have you tryed the last version of the FW?
