question about core temp 0.99.4

Is it normal for an i7 to randomly switch between processor multipliers at idle? I am running a 920 completely stock in turbo mode and have noticed that the frequency jumps between 1600 and 2800Mhz when viewed in core temp. I have also noticed that I do not see this fluctuation while using the desktop control center from intel.

Yes its power saving doing its job.

yup thats speedstep/CE1/C1E power saving.. it can be disabled in the bios.. but you are better off leaving it on..
