So I'm thinking of putting together a new socket 2011 based system and started thinking . . . if my backup server uses server parts including ECC memory, why shouldn't I just base my desktop off server parts.
If I were to get a SB-E chip that was simply the xeon version, and used it with ECC memory, would there be any negative implications for a desktop. I run win7 ultimate x64. I would mostly be interested in compatibility issues that could come up.
I play games and use photoshop/premier.
Any thoughts? What are the disadvantages of doing that?
