Question about Bottom loading PSU Cases

I've noticed that a lot of gaming rigs found in "General hardware" have a case such as Antec Three Hundred which places the PSU on the bottom, and then suggest something like CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX for the PSU which has a cooling fan on the bottom of the unit.

I completely acknowledge and submit to the wisdom of the other members here, however it seems counter intuitive for me. Can anyone shed some light on this for me since I'll probably be buying both of those for my next upgrade?
 
The 300 and 900 have mounting holes that allow the PS to be flipped and mounted correctly, so the 750TX will fit and the fan will face up, but the logo and wording will be upside-down. Hope this helps.

Yeah I assumed that one could just flip the PSU and solve the "problem" but I wasn't too sure. Then it seems I'm drawing a lot of heat from the CPU/graphics into the PSU tho I suupose that would be the norm with top loaders anyways.
 
Many cases, like my Lian Li A05, have the PSU raised about an inch off the bottom of the case, and the PSU fan has no problem pulling in air. You will also find that many modders will cut a whole in the bottom of their cases for better air intake.
 
My CM 590 actually has an intake vent below the PSU so it can draw air through the bottom of the case. Actually, my last 4 cases have been this way.

I've got a 590 as well, and in addition to the bottom vent, there's about a 3/4" gap between then bottom of the case and the floor, and about a 1/4" gap between the bottom of the case and the PSU (a 650TX in my case).
 
Like the 590 as mentioned above, many cases with bottom-mounted PSUs have vents to let in cool air from the bottom. It's actually better to have the PSU placed at the bottom than at the top.
 
I concure however I hadn't seen a shot of the bottom of the case. Though now that i know there are cases like the 590 I'll give it a rethink.
 
Another note on the 590 - it has a variety of screw holes for the psu to accomodate mounting either top-up or upside down.

So much of the 690 is simiar that it probably has the same feature.
 
i have a 300 and a bfg es800, i have the fan facing up at the video card, you can also flip it the other way and have it suck from the bottom of the case as well

The 690 uses the exact same chassis aside from the front, so yeah, it also has holes for both orientations.
 
The V2000 and V1000 Lian Li's Both have little holes drilled in the bottom of the case for venting and they cool the power supplies fine here. have both a v1000 and v2000.
