i was wondering if the asus a8v deluxe supports the new atx12v v2.0 psus. if so, do the older psus that arent the v2.0 support the asus a8v board? please excuse me for being a n00b at this.
 
The motherboard doesn't care if the PSU is 1.3 or 2.0. The two versions are interchangable as far as the rest of the hardware is concerned.

2.0 includes multiple, independantly regulated, 12V rails. (It also removes -5V from the spec all together, changes the ATX connector to 24 pin (it's still pin compatible with existing 20 pin boards though, there's just a few extra pins), and specifies more of the total power should be distributed at 12V than previous versions)
for your typical desktop supply, the CPU is on a 12V rail, and the rest is on the other. The two rails should be reasonably well isolated so voltage flucuations on one (from a load change) don't affect the other.

edit.
actually looking at the av8 deluxe, teh ATX connector is jammed in pretty tight. You might need to use a 24->20 pin adapter if you have a 2.0 supply.
