question about an external drive

My friend has an extra external hard drive on his computer with lots of private business files on it. The rest of his family also uses the computer, and he does not want them to have access to the hard drive. He has his wondows set up so that each person in the house has their own windows profile and each have their own password. My friend was wondering if there is a way to make it so that only his windows profile can see this external hard drive. If this is not possible, please give me some suggestion on how he could make it so only he could access this external hard drive.
