I have an Enermax 420 Watt PSU (the one with the fan controll knob on the back)

I've read that this is a good PSU but I have a question...

There is 1 Molex connector that looks just like the kind used for Hard Drives that says "Extra" on it.. The plastic for that connector is not the same texture/color as the other molex connectors also. Is this one safe to use for things like Video cards and Drives? I assume its a 12volt one like the others but its on the same cable bundle as the small motherboard power connector so Im not certain what it is..

Anyone know for sure about that connector?

I think that connector is for some of the earlier motherboards, etc. which used a molex connector, as opposed to the 4 pin connector.

Hmm. Well there is that "other" connector there that looks like early style motherboard power. I forgot the name but it looks like the kind where you had to use the "black to black" connector.. Then there is this one called "extra"..

What model exactly?

I am assuming you mean it looks like this:

Thats what they look like.. That one marked "extra" is the one I'm asking about.. Can it be used for Drives/Video card like the other regular connectors can?

It is supposed to be for powering vidoecards. The manual should have covered that. The difference in texture is probably becasue it has some sort of EMI shielding.

i believe the extra connectors are only for fans. but i may be wrong

Well my PSU somehow didnt have a manual in the box so I tried their site.. and the online manual = page cannot be displayed.. I guess I'll see if that thing powers my 6800GT. Having problems with that thing right now anyways so maybe that other power connector will help.

Not according to the manual, for what I believe is the correct model number for that PSU but the OP never provided the model number.

Whisper II EG465P-VE FMA ATX Ver 1.3 is the model as best as I can tell.
