Question about Airplex Evo 240/120

I'm new to water cooling and I have been toying around with the idea of using one of the following in my next case:

Airplex Evo 120 (1 x Sidewinder 120mm Fan) + AquaTube Reservoir 1.1

or

Airplex Evo 240 ( 2 x Sidewinder 120mm Fans)

Sidewinder Case Fan

Would this work? Should I use a different fan? Which setup would keep my system cooler overall?
 
Why would you buy a low h2o flow radiator that is to be used with low rpm/dba/cfm fans and use loud high cfm/rpm fans?
 
Ugh, good point, I must be brain dead... :rolleyes: I won't use those fans.

What fans should I use then? Any preferences?
 
Using loud fans isn't bad with the Evo 240, but quieter fans can be used with similar results. A friend who had one used his fan controllers to turn his dual 120's way down, and the temperatures stayed the same....

what kind of set up are you thinking of besides those rads?
get some panaflos from that same site they cost 8.95 each and wont represent any damage to your health.
 
This is what I was thinking of using:

- AquaXtreme Pump
- Airplex Evo 240 / 120 (Depending on what would keep my system cooler)
- AquaTube Reservoir 1.1 (if needed)
- Danger Den 6800 Water Block
- Cuplex Evo 1.1 CPU Water Block
- NB Chipset Water Block
- Tygon tubing (from what I have read it sounds like the best)

Am I missing anything? Would this system be any good?
 
i would do some research so that you can get your feet wet. read the stickies.
i am guessing you are going with 3/8 id tubing?
you dont need the Reservoir, you can use a t line, if you are going to cool the gpu i would go for the 240, i wouldnt cool the chipset.(thats just me though).
ask dan aka sntmods if the parts are in stock. i think that would be a nice set up if not to expensive for my taste. could get a similar set up for much less, although it wouldnt look half as good.
 
Yes, I have been reading A LOT of articles over the weekend, so far I have just been narrowing down the parts I should get for a WC system, and these look like the best suited for my tastes (those from snt-systems). As for tubing, I haven't read up too much on that part yet, but I'll get to it eventually.

However, I have a question, since I'm going to be using the DFI Lanparty mobo, why wouldn't I want to water cool the chipset? Especially, since I plan to O/C and I know the default cooling for the chipset on this board runs very hot...

Edit: I believe this will be 1/2 tubing? I'm not sure.
 
if im right all of aqua computers setups are 3/8s i looked into it too cuz i wanted 1/2 and wanted that res but they only have 3/8s fyi
 
From snt-systems website on Airplex Evo 240:

G1/8" Thread Plug&Cool Straight and Bent for 8/6mm hose, 10mm Barb for 10mm (3/8") I.D. hose, 12mm Barbs for 12mm (1/2") I.D. hose

I thought it could take 12mm Barbs and use a 1/2" hose from what's stated above, correct me if I am wrong?
 
the block cant use 1/2 barbs the biggest id hosing that block is 3/8, if you want to run 1/2, you will need to run another block, and truly i would go with another rad for 1/2 maybe a bix2 or a bip2 they look as nice as the 240 but are less restristive.

if you are going to cool the nb i would go with 3/8's cause routing the tubing will be hard with something bigger.
 
Alright, then I guess 3/8 would be the best cause I do want to go
pump > cpu > gpu > nb chipset > rad , at least that's what I was thinking.
 
is here any particular reason why you want to run that rad? is it because of the grill, cause you can use that grill with other rads.

i would go 3/8's and check if dan have the things in stock, like i said before to expensive for my taste, but a sweet setup.
you can route it like that, i would go> rad>cpu>nb>gpu>pump>rad.

but i wouldnt sweat it much, it will all depend on how big your case is etc, you dont want a puzzle with the tubbing.

i usually do try to have the cpu block as the first block of the loop.
 
The reason why I want to use that rad is because I think it would fit perfectly in the next case I want to get which is the Coolermaster CM Stacker. I was toying around with placing the rad vertically standing up in between the 5.25 drive bay cage and having the two fans on the rad facing out, which would then be covered by the mesh screen (for looks), pushing cool air in, followed by the pump which would placed directly behind the rad inside the case. I'm not sure this would fit perfectly but I am capable of doing some dremel work if needed or putting the radiator in another place if needed.

See where the 3 fans are, the bottom two would be taken place by the ones on the radiator, get my idea? It's a big case, I think it should fit right? :cool:
 
ahhhh and the truth should set you free.
a less restricitve rad and cheaper and as good looking would be a black ice pro 2 paired with some nice medium panaflos, or a black ice extreme2...they are about the same size, if not a little smaller. they come with 1/2" Barbed Fittings or Customizable Barbed Fittings.

or probably weapon can build you something. :)

Damnit, I must have read about 40-50 post on water cooling this weekend, I don't know how I missed that one. :p

Edit: Found the thread, thanks for the info. Now, I really feel silly. I really didn't want to list what case I was going to use cause I thought no one else thought of using this case and having a water cool system set up just like this. Then I was going to finish the product and show it all off on the forums. Foolish me, I should have known better. :(

However, I guess great minds think alike. :D
 
Alright, after doing some more researching I have a few more questions.

1. If I want to have a WC setup that covers: CPU / GPU / NB chipset what should I use for tubing size? Is 3/8" too restrictive, should I go for 1/2" ?

2. In this case should I use a 77 Bonneville Heatercore instead of the Airplex Evo 240? Is this it --> Taken from DangerDen If not where can I find one? (searched forums couldn't find any listings)

3. I'm still pretty sure I want to use the Aqua-Computer parts for CPU / NB and the DangerDen WB for the GPU, but should I add a reservoir like this one Would it make things easier, as in a better flow, and more cooling?

4. Are all of these parts capable/meant to be used for 3/8 tubing or am I mixing up 1/2 parts in here? Or does it not matter?

Keep in mind, I want max cooling that will cover my CPU / GPU / NB, price really isn't a problem for me (to an extent, I don't want to go to phase cooling). Thanks for anymore answers :)
 
Eternity. I would run 2 seperate loops if you're planning on using that DD GPU block or run a single loop using a 120 x 3 sized rad. It's going to add a ton of heat to the loop.
 
Ok, I just realized this thread is going off topic...I'll start a new one and see if I can get some more replies.
 
1.3/8's is fine and will be easier to do.
2. if the 77 heatercore fits it will be a better choice.
3.you dont need a reservoir, a t line is fine, cooling wise, a reservoir will make it easier to fill and bleed the kit, some people swear that the extra capacity gets them better temps.
4.all the parts you have listed can be used in a 3/8s configuration even the gpu block.

i would do this for the sake of ordering it all at once.
