Hey there,

I currently have 1GB OCZ Dual Channel DDR400 RAM (2X512 Modules) in my system and am looking to add another gig to give it a boost.

Now i am looking to add a single 1024MB module of OCZ Performance RAM

My question is this:

Will this work in my machine? my motherboard manual says that if i fill all the slots with RAM then my RAM speed will drop a notch (any my motherboard only has 4 ram slots, 2 of which are full...), basically meaning i cannot go dual channel again so i figured this was the next most logical step?

Any info/suggestions welcome!

Regards,

Chris :)

it is:

AMD Athlon 64 3000 32/64Bit CPU S939 "Venice" 90nm

Chris. :)

mmk, you may or may not be able to use 3 sticks, 2x512mb in one channel and 1x1gb in the other. it'll default to 166mhz and 2T if you do that though (assuming it works at all), just as if you put 4x512mb in

you should, but as i just said, you don't necessarily have to. you can always buy one now, if 2x512mb + 1x1gb doesn't work, you can buy a second and sell the 2x512mb

I have 2x256 and 2x512 in my eVGA SLI board and it is Memtest stable. Was planning on selling the 2x256 but since it works I'm I'm keeping it for 1.5 gigs.
