I just earned enough money to buy a raptor, and I'd like to toss away my old 40gb 5400rpm hard drive. I plan on putting it back with its original components; an old althon xp system, which will go to my sister. The old hard drive has windows 2k pro, windows me, and windows xp pro on it atm. I'm just wondering if I can add the raptor, copy all the files from the old to the new, remove the old, put it into the old system(for which windows 2k is configured) and use windows xp on my new one with the raptor and all my files, and windows 2k pro on the old one which will have my sister's stuff on it.

Can anyone see a problem with this? I don't think the windows thing is illegal, since i'll only be using 1 copy of each still, and the old windows 2k pro one with its original hardware. The only possibility I can think of is that the old hard drive would still probably have windows xp pro on it, even though it wouldn't work. I'm not sure how to delete it though after i transfer the files.

I just kept adding a new one whenever they came out, whenever i needed one, or once, when I didn't know how to get rid of a virus. I did it instead of reformatting pretty much(no cd burner) :/

To make an exact copy of the old drive and clone it to your raptor, I still have yet to find an easier method than to use Norton's Ghost.
