or would the noise form my MSI geforce 4 ti4400 be louder then the computer, lol. any thoughts?

no fan on the psu im told... will this thing be ok heat wise when you pop in a game if i wanted to??? :confused: :(
 
I can tell you our machines our tested for heat and always leave plenty of room for upgrades. That PC would be perfectly fine with an add-in video card and more.

From what I have seen, building a rig is generally more expensive than buying prebuilt.
 
I've got a Compaq 6000Z that probably has the same mobo. Bought a low spec version with a 2600+ and upgraded the specs on my own. I kept the case, case fan, CPU, HSF, mobo, CD-ROM and PSU (250W) and combined that with 1GB RAM (2 X 512MB), a pair of 7200 RPM hard drives, 80mm case fan (a bit of a hack... used duct tape and a bracket) and an AIW 9800 Pro. Reinstalled the OS and it runs like a champ (yes, all that on the original 250W PSU). It's been running non-stop, no reboots, for over a month now (including leaving Morrowind running for well over a week since last I actually played it).

One gotcha: if you want to upgrade the PSU, you may need to do a little bit of a cutting on the case. That's a big reason mine is still running with the original PSU (which is an absolute brick... weighs more than most cheap, high (alleged) wattage PSUs).

Oh, my mobo is based on the KM600(I'm pretty sure it was 600) chipset and has integrated Firewire, USB2 (several ports and headers available as well), NIC, video (still has an AGP slot), and sound on the mobo... AND a pair of SATA ports (even though SATA drives weren't available as options at the time of configuration for purchase).

I bought at hpshopping.com and, after the last 2 rebates come back, what I bought will come out to $400 US... which also included a 15" flat panel monitor (not that I use it, I gave it to my wife as a present). Perhaps you also can do better than by purchasing from Staples... YMMV.

Your a perfect example of why I wish people would ditch their old notions. Our current stuff is actually pretty nice. In fact that case you have...is awesome. I still prefer doing it myself (building a computer...get your minds out of the gutter). But, if I was ever to buy a prebuilt (and I have in for spare machines) I wouldn't hesitate about a system like that. We use all standard parts and don't lock anything down preventing upgrades. I've worked on many machines of co-workers, who buy them and have me upgrade or re-install the OS and software. I am always impressed.
