I was thinking about somehow incorporating my Dell 20.1" widescreen *inside* my LianLi PC-75 full tower case.. The case is plenty big enough to fit it width and height but depth is an issue.

I was wondering if anyone has ever done this before with these specific items and how it was done? I was thinking if I could possibly take my monitor apart that would give me the extra 1/4 inch off of the depth that I need. Otherwise I figure I would have to do some serious modification to my case with a saw and I don't want to do that. Any ideas? I've never seen this before I thought it would be a really good idea plus make my PC much more portable. I would need to install extra fans for the extra heat in the case but other than that it should work.

Just, looking at my monitor, I don't see any easy way to take it apart.

I'm having trouble picturing in my mind what you are attempting to do...and also rationalizing why?

i think what he is trying to do is inlay his monitor in the side panel of his case so it takes up less room. And if the case was deep enough you could do it. But an easier way to do what i think your trying to do is go out and buy a standard wall mount that does not actuate and just mount it to the side of the case you prefer. Inlaying that monitor into a case would be a pretty big hassle so thats a different way you could do it.

the LCD would put a fair amount of unwanted heat into the case to; enough to not want it in there I would think

Its doable and the Getting a wall mount to the outside of the case idea is horrible. That would add more weight and make it Fugly.

There have been people who have put LCD's inside the side of the case. I think there is a step by step set of instructions out there somewhere. Just search google for a while and find it. It doesn't add that much heat to the case. Bonus is that you are now actively cooling your LCD panel. Just make sure that you have room for the inverter and everything else that comes with the LCD to go inside the case!

Yeah I don't want to mount it to the outside. The case is plenty big enough to hold the monitor just like I said the monitor doesn't quite fit depth-wise.. Looking at it closely I figured the plastic housing of the monitor is what is really in my way. If I could somehow take it apart I should be able to fit it inside my case without any major modification to the case itself. I just don't want to cut up my case and someday decide I don't like it anymore and have a bunch of ugly spots in my case from where I cut away to make it fit.

Just like I said I don't see any easy way to take apart the monitor and I don't want to break it. Other than that the window in my case is plenty big enough to house the monitor will full view of the screen. I'm not sure how I would go about mounting it inside either, but this should be interesting and if I can figure anything out I'll make a worklog of it.

Yeah you have to take it out of the casing. It shouldn't be that deep in the end.

don't forget that the monitor may heat up the rest of your case considerably but if you could somehow water cool it, that would be neat , you don't want too many fans inside because as you will have your whole pc case with monitor on your desk it while be quite loud, just my thoughts.

yeah it's already pretty loud with the 2 tornados in the front two fan ports hehe..

It's loud, and yet you want it on top of your desk? That doesn't make sense.

Well it's not THAT loud, unless I turn the tornados up full speed but I keep them all the way down on my fan bus.

I'm using a Dell 20 inch widescreen LCD and a LianLi PC-75B found here.
