Question about 6850 F@H performance

From personal experience F@H performance was dismal on my 4850 compared to my 8800gts 512mb.

I was doing some reading during the 5850 launch showing that an 8800gt outperformed it in DC applications.

I'm wondering how well the 6850/70 performs in DC apps like F@H compared to nvidia cards and older ATI cards.

still performs very poorly in f@H, it will do better once the v7 client is released. maybe tobit or another beta tester may know, i haven't seen any numbers revealed yet, just those that agree there nowhere near where they should be (5k maybe)

depends on project you want, the 68 series (like the 57 series) do not support double precision so milky way or other similar projects wont run. in bionic there about a minute slower per unit compared to a 5870 but nearly twice as fast as a 5770 or even a 460 gtx.

yep still performs like shit. waiting for the opencl client to be released which wont be til sometime next year at the earliest and never at the latest.

if you want to run DC apps take a look at collatz conjecture(single/double precision support) and milkyway(double precision only) which are boinc projects and we also have a team on both of those. the ATI cards slaughter nvidia cards on those projects. a stock 5870 is about 50% faster then an overclocked GTX 480. 4 1/2 minutes per work unit(5870) vs 8 minutes (overclocked gtx 480)
