I use a single 27 inch monitor, play the usual games but don't play online.
I am running a 965, 16gigs ram, and an MSI 7850 OC that can run at 1050 1300 with no heating problems.
How much difference would running a Crossfire setup make? I ask because everything I play runs at Ultra, looks great and doesn't hang. I don't care about bragging rights. I am really interested in Crossfire and looking ahead six months to when a 7950 or 7970 would be affordable, but thinking that a 2nd 7850 might keep me going for quite a while.
What do you think?
 
Depends on what performance you're looking for I guess. At the moment I haven't had any issues with Crossfire in any games for the past few months; that being said I guess I haven't played many of the new games, either. However haven't heard much angst in the forums about it either, it seems the drivers for the 6xxx and 7xxx crossfire are pretty stable at this point. The scaling is quite good, so you should see a substantial gain in most games.
 
It will help in games like crisys where a lot of detail is being generated. For most cards, it wont be an issue but most cards have a crossfire bridge already so buy the card you like such as the 7770 and get a second one later if you need the extra horsepower..
