Query: Cable Order, inc Raid 1, ATA 133?

Hi,
I'm rebuilding an old rig into a server, and want to make use of the onboard highpoint Raid controller on it for RAID 1 purposes and add another pair, as it's being used at the moment.

What's the best way to wire up the following?
1 x 20 gb OS
1 x DVD-RW
1 x CD RW
4 x 250gb in RAID 1

is it: (Sorry if it's not too readable, how do you do tables in the forum?)

RPair 1 is the first pair of raid 1, Rpair 2 is the second pair.
or is it best to stick the one raid pair on one channel?

And nope, i really am not fussed if the OS dies - it's only linux on a 2 gig drive so dvd rw solves that!

Do not have hard drives as master and slave on the PATA port if you can avoid it. Here's what I'd do... Pick up a 3Ware 4 Port PATA RAID card, then go with:

Mobo Primary: Boot hard drive set as master
Mobo Secondary: DVD-RW maset, CD-RW slave

and 1 250GB drive, in two arrays, master on it's own port on the 3Ware controller.
HighPoint does have a 4 port PCI PATA RAID card (the HPT 374) it will be slower than a 3Ware/Acrea/etc, but it will also be cheaper. Good luck!

As i'm only doing Raid 1, is it really worth spending that much money on the 3ware? What's the advantage over a standard 4 port SATA/PATA Raid 1 adapter? The 3Wares have a raid 5 processor on them - far too much for what i want!

I'm trying to avoid spending money though apart from on the storage itself as the money is going on the workstation.
