Query about CoreTemp Beta 0.94

What should the expected temps be for an e6600? I'm using water and clocked my cpu up to around 3.6ghz at 1.55v. Temps say core 0= 49c core 1= 47c @ idle under orthos load, core 0 = 61c core 1 = 59c. I drop the cpu down to 3.43 and 1.45v and temps drop 2c at idle and 3c under load. Is this to hot? Asus probe 2 says 28idle @ 3.5 and 42 under load. I hear that probe 2 is bollocks, still 60c seems warm for my setup, 3x120mm dd stealth rad + 2 waterblocks cpu/gpu and a 1500 l/hr pump. What do your guys think?

Still quite hot. However temps really scale with higher clock speeds not as much with higher volts. At 3.5 my load is about 41, 3.6 about 44.
 
Could it just be that the P5W DH is just a hot board? I read the they placed the mb temp probe at a very warm place on the board hence the high mb temp reading (50-60c). :confused:
Really not a big issue at the moment, comp stable on orthos for 12hrs. Might be a problem in summer though.

Temps look perfect. 60C under 100% load is a fine place to be. Especially if you're running at 3.6Ghz!!

The voltage is a little higher than I'd personally push. But if 1.55v got me to 3.6Ghz, I'd keep it there.
 
sooooo....i dropped my cpu down to stock and now temps are idleing aroun 34c in core temp. 41c under load now. Still seems a little high...ah well.
 
Not for a Conroe...

41 load is pretty nice.

I load closer to 50 on water too. Processor in sig.
 
People have to remember that CoreTemp is reading sensors that Intel decided to locate at the hottest spots within the new Conroe chips. Temperatures reported from these new sensors are not comparable to temperatures reported from motherboard sensors.

Intel rates their Conroe processors up to 85C as reported by CoreTemp. When your CPU is at 65C there is still a pile of headroom left before your system will be unstable due to heat issues.

This is also why some people notice a very high looking CoreTemp value yet their heatsink still feels cool to the touch. The heatsink was originally designed for the previous P4 ovens and does a pretty good job at dissipating heat. I realize there are some better options available but the Intel set up is a good compromise and a Conroe will run 24/7 at 3500 MHz and even beyond that with the stock cooler in a properly ventilated case.

I keep telling people this, but they have the old temperature standards in their mind. Like the temps that are read by SpeedFan. My SpeedFan temps are like 10-15C lower than my CoreTemp readings.

I wonder what the readings would have been on PrescHOTTs, if they had a sensor on chip. 90C ?!

The Intel utility and CoreTemp are reading the same sensors and that temperature value is the most important number to rely on.

A one or two degree difference between the two readings not significant. It varies slightly depending on the frequency of updating and rounding. At full load running Orthos they should still be very close.

I'm not sure what SpeedFan is reporting. Use CoreTemp or the Intel utility. They are nice and simple so users can compare apples to apples for a change.
