To say that Qualcomm wasn’t too hot on the idea of paying $6 dollars for each handset sold that relied on patented Broadcom technology would be a great understatement.

Broadcom this week offered to bill Qualcomm $6 for each handset sold that relied on the infringed patent, said Bill Davidson, Qualcomm's vice president of global marketing and investor relations. The patent covers a feature that conserves battery power.

$6 per handset? That's quite rediculous considering it probably cost them less than a dollar to make the I/C.

So basically unless the phone sucks battery power down like nobody's business, it infringes on thier patent? Or am I missing something here?
