Heck yeah, its gonna be the BF series killer, thank goodness for that. In case you havent viewed the E3 movie with the Devs playing, watchit. its cool stuff. And of course its gonna be good, its Quake!!!

I'm pretty sure it's going to kick some major ass.

I can't wait, and a beta can't come soon enough.

i wonder if it is going to be more system taxing than q4....?

hmm letss seee, bigger maps, 'megatextures', more players, land and air vehicles.. i have no proof but my guess is hells yea :p but look at how far hardware has come since q4 came out so it's all good IMO

From the videos I've seen, it doesn't look drastically different from BF2, aside from the setting/characters.

Meaning, I think it will be good, but not a BF2 killer, more like BF2 competition.

Of course, this is all speculation until I play it.

its gonna kick major ass, i was never a fan of the BF series and always loved the quake games besides the god awful 4. building my new computer just for this, crysis, and unreal tournament 2007.

yea me too... my next system build will be for those exact games aswell :). I am also hoping Mass Effect will come to PC but I doubt that. I feel like quake wars will have the gameplay that I felt the BF series is missing... and I hope I'm not wrong

I hope so but since they made the MP objective based, there is a big chance that it will never catch on. Why couldn't it have just been a DM damnit?

DM = yawn

Wolf ET is still very popular. Quake Wars WILL catch on. In fact I predict it will overtake BF2 and BF2142 very quickly in popularity.

If it's as good as the previous Enemy Territory was, but with new content, vehicles and everything else, then it's going to be awesome :)

It looks cool but the last few gameplay videos I've seen are a little underwhealming, the fights in and around the houses look bland and boring to be honest.

Which gameplay videos? The only one I remember around the houses was the 8800GTX launch video, which was just a staged match to show off graphical features, not really representative of an actual battle.

So what is it?

Try google....

Altho if your still asking this question after what ppl have been saying

I'll help....

It will take over from the BF series.... (BIG clue about style of game)

It has massive multiplayer maps....

Has land and air vehicles.....

Is it really that hard to even hazard a guess?

On a side note after looking at those screenies, anyone saying this looks like BF2 needs their eyes testing. Personally I'm looking forward to UT2k7 more than this.

No it will suck.. Just like this thread.

God I don't think there is anything more worthless then speculating about a game that hasn't come out yet.. Whats even worse is when you ask if the game is going to be good.

Didn't think it looked that good either, gone the same way as BF series with very large terrain and long view distances the areas with little ability for culling distant meshes always end up fairly basic.

I've just not seen anything from any of the QW media to get too excided about, not when you look at games like crysis on the horizon, man o man.

Yeah but Quake Wars should run just fine on any computer that could run Quake 4, so that means high settings with AA and AF for most of us, whereas Crysis will require a very hefty investment to run at those settings.

I thought it looked pretty good myself. Nothing mindblowing, but more than competent. As long as it runs well I'll be happy. We'll see when it's released. Personally I can't wait, everything about it has got me excited. I'm also excited for Crysis, but not any more or less than Quake Wars.

Im not going to believe anything about how well it runs until theres some proper full game reviews out there or I have a copy myself, so far I've only seen the doom3/quake4 engine being used mostly for indoors with fairly low poly counts but with lots of normal/bump map detail and accurate lighting, how well it can handle large outdoor terrain is really yet to be seen.

I was very interested in QW before I saw that "tech demo" video for Nvidia. If that is the game, then my interest is greatly reduced.

Nice gameplay would be a plus (some cool game modes...PLEASE).

But if it doesn't take forever to load, hog resources, and is stable unlike two certain other games, then it auto-wins.

Slideshows aren't very conducive to an enjoyable multiplayer experience

I have been looking forward to it, but the latest in game footage that was posted here made it look incredibly lame. I'm still looking forward to it, but will lower expectations now.

it looks an aweful lot like battlefield 2.. is it the same engine?

Hmm... Quake Wars... erm...*bites tongue*...

No.

I hope it also has the plain old base capture/conquest mode. The footage i saw was objective based. A bit more complicated than i would like since you need players to fill in specific roles.

That last video really was crap...my enthusiasm dropped precipitously at that point. Whoever made that video and said "hey, this makes the game look great!" should probably have his position at the company re-evaluated. Granted it was pre-release stuff, but it really made the game look pretty boring and bland.

Again, that video really wasn't meant to show off the gameplay. I also agree it was stupid of them to release it, but it really wasn't designed to show off how hectic a battle can be. Most people who played it at QuakeCon said it rocked, I'd trust their opinion over a small video where the main focus was on showing off technical details.

Only time will tell, but I'm willing to bet it's going to rock.

I thought so, but looking at the latest videos all i'm seeing is spangly graphics and none of of the promised gameplay features, which stinks. I'm not holding out much hope any more.
Still, wait until I play it, wha'?

I reckon it'll be good, but I'd bet it'll get old real fast. It's going to be too serious for it's own good and ultimately will fail to provide the level of fun that the BF games provide.

For the non-whiners, non-bitches, and non-defacto EA haters the BF series of games are great fun; always were, always will be. Their tackyness, oddly, adds to this. Quake Wars will be a highly slick affair and will be adopted by seriously skilled players making it alot less fun, even for good players 'cos it'll always be a dead serious game where you cannot afford to have any noob fuck things up (which always happens in online games, it's inevitable). When some noob fucks up a titan landing in BF2142 it's annoying for sure, but you can laugh it. That won't be the case in Quake Wars.

So yeah, not a BF killer IMO. It'll have it's place alongside after the BF guys realise it's just not as fun and go back to the BF games.

I *hope* it will be good. I love BF2 but I'm always up for another game that's similar to it. The Quake universe has always been interesting to me and I hope they do a good job of keeping it in character. The visuals look decent enough but I hope the game play is as good or better than BF2's.

I don't want QW to be a BF2 "killer". I spent money on BF2 and I want my money to go as far as possible. :D

I hope they make a 360 version of it, anyone know if they have any plans to?
