Quadro P6000 (1080 Ti?) benchmarked

It would more be a Titan Black or so. 1080Ti would be closer to the current Titan.

Here you go; here's what a full-fat GP102 can do:

A 20% boost over the 1080 looks good.

I would say it is probably based upon the Tesla P40, which was itself more powerful than Titan Pascal:

I still do not think we will see a full GP102 in the 1080ti, so far only the HPC and professional world with Quadro, and worth remembering the 980ti was a cut down version of the Titan X in terms of cores.
This time though we have the Titan Pascal cut down, so I am assuming the 1080ti will have the same number of cores.

Cheers

Basically what the Titan should've been in the first place. What we got instead was a cripple.

It's probably very expensive to get great yields on full unlock cards. So it makes sense to sell the "A stock" as a Quadro. B stock would be the Titan / 1080ti. C stock is the regular 1080.

Your C stock is a GP104.

At this point I am sure its possible to do Quadro+Titan as full GP102 and only the 1080ti as a cutdown. But there are more factors than that obviously.

I agree, this does give options for an update if Nvidia needs to do it before Volta comes out. For example, next year Nvidia could have a full GP 102 gaming card, maybe called Titan X Black or just Titan Black. An updated 1080Ti with DDR 5x and more shaders. Yields normally improve over time.

A refresh is very likely to happen before Volta. More GDDR5X used, higher clocks, up to 12Ghz GDDR5X etc. Micron in the financial call is doing very well and expect to do better in the near future in terms of GDDR5X sales.

I would imagine my own 1080 get a refresh with 12Ghz GDDR5X and clocks up a tad.

But who knows, GP100 is being replaced with Volta rather fast.

So am I the only one that looked at this logically? I've seen this posted on multiple Tech sites and forums and not one person has pointed out that Hitman is getting a 17% performance boost even though the card only has 7% more cores running at the same speed as Titan X. That is some magical scaling right there plus the quadro card has less bandwidth...

Crystal ball: Nvidia will announce the 1080 Ti at CES next week and showcase it running Mass Effect Andromeda.

hey! you cant claim "crystal ball" when you linking to a article! my crystal ball says that this is a logical conclusion though. :) nv is going to want to take away as much hype from amd as they can. what better way to do it than drop the 1080ti when ryzen and vega are right around the corner.

edit: spelling

If they make the 1080ti a full core solution, then what is the incentive for anyone to purchase the Pascal Titan apart from a bit more memory but less performance?
That would be applicable to developers who would take the cheapest option to do FP32 and Int8 accelerated functions.
The Titan does not have same level of warranty as the Quadro/Tesla cards so it makes it an easy call to decide between the 1080ti and Titan if Nvidia did that.

So if they did make the 1080ti a full core it definitely takes sales away from Titan as a prosumer card, and potentially cannibalises the Quadro and Tesla full core cards as well a little bit.
Looking at Nvidia strategy, it would be same core count as Titan at best, just depends how they differentiate the two models beyond the slight memory size.
Cheers

Drivers are different for quadro's and geforces, so shader compilers make a difference, which is odd that a quadro has that kind of performance but there could be a problem in the geforce driver of that game. Or maybe a problem with the quadro driver not rendering something properly that is giving it an artificial increase in performance.

Would be funny if it has Async Compute fully enabled :)
But being like some fans debating tin foil moments between the manufacturers, maybe Hitman looks to cripple Nvidia cards and was thrown a swerve ball with the card being a Quadro hehe.
Yeah last point is being flippant, but there could be some aspects on path rendering (maybe async compute handled differently as well but would need testing to prove and odds pretty low it is happening) or driver as razor mentions done differently.
That review should had done a more detailed Hitman analysis (including looking at visuals for cues) when they noticed such a large performance oddity compared to the Time Spy result.
Cheers

Or old numbers got reused for the other cards.

Yep there is that as well, they did use the old numbers for Titan X, makes the comparison even more unbalanced IMO as that is one of the worst games for Nvidia and they managed to squeeze improvements out of later drivers along with game updates, but then they did the review 2.5 months after Hitman launched (but I have not bothered to check if they even used the very latest drivers back then for the Titan X review).
Benchmark result back in August when reviewed at that site:

Mmmmmmmmmm...

[Baidu] - Happy New Year + Good News for nvidia + 1080 Ti information
so this is actually a rumor from the chinese forum baidu but it does come from the poster who has had some pretty good information about the 980 ti and was accurate for the most part.

it is in chinese but using a translator and inferring from it for better structure and meaning, this is what the poster says about the 1080 Ti and some other information related

  • Mass Effect: Andromeda would be the first game to be demoed with the 1080 TI, probably DX12 exclusive, potentially gameworks? (original translation came off as N card optimization so that might be it)

  • Supposedly there's a non-public version of the 1080 Ti that's going to be released at CES. Can't really make a clear inference but looks like it might be a 2nd distribution of it?
which leads into the next one

  • 1080 Ti will be displayed on a machine and January 5th is the official release (probably announcement) of the 1080 Ti
next post is not really related to the 1080 Ti but you can always translate it, really just talks about most games using Nvidia as first platform so the next one, which is actually potential pricing of the 1080 Ti

  • Estimated to be $699 or $799
I am guessing that there's most likely an FE version so potential regular price could be $699 or $799, and the FE may be $799 or $899 plus taxes

he does say he doesn't know the exact price but somewhere in that range, potentially higher

and the last one which is the potential specs of the 1080 Ti

  • Will come with GDDR5 and not GDDR5X - 3328 Cuda Cores, 384 Bit, 12 GB GDDR5, 96 ROPs
now if you remember earlier in the year there were 2 rumors about the memory capacity, one had it as 10 GB G5, and the other which i posted for the most part said it had 12 GB G5 so if true, this would confirm that the 1080 Ti's product number is 699-1G611-0030-300, which is the 12 GB and not 699-1G611-0010-000, which would be the 10 GB version.

so that's pretty much it and so we don't know until CES but it looks like it will perform just below the Titan X Pascal if the rumored specs are confirmed.

Just to add.
And the "Tegra" Drive PX2s replaced by Volta are having sampling status Volta products given to manufacturers Q4 2017, so that is also fast and usually is after some mainstream cards launch.
Pascal was just part of the technological milestones towards Volta and introduced so they did not bring in all the changes in one go (big challenge and higher chances of issues/failures), looking forward to the big milestone changes still to come though.

Cheers

Here's to hoping they follow the 900 series +$50 they did for the MSRP of the 1070 and 1080. I'd love to upgrade my 980ti, but I just don't think I can justify it if it starts getting close to $1k.

Well the 1080 Ti looks to be the most gimped $800-$900 card in history...
The gaming card industry needs some real competition or kick in the ASS. I wonder if this card will be memory bandwidth restricted while being able to OC to full Pascal ability.

Its only benefit IMO will be price and noise level; in terms of OC Nvidia's own 'FE' design with the right settings (temp targets/power/fan profile) overclocks just as well as the custom AIB models (context when comparing FE to custom models throughout the Pascal range).
I must admit I thought they might keep the 1080ti to same core count-structure as the Pascal Titan but limit it in other ways (that would be the best we could expect IMO), but maybe that is not enough of a differentiation now they are really pushing the Titan as Prosumer.

The challenge for Nvidia is how to make the 1080ti appealing compared to the 1080 if they are reducing the core count compared to Titan Pascal.
I think we were lucky with the 980ti, was an incredibly good card at its price (made the 980 seem like poor value, which it was compared to the 970 and 980ti).
Cheers
