Quad: Windows SMP, or VMWare/Linux x2?

Has anyone done any points comparisons? I think it's been established that the extra cores do NOT double the output, so is it possible that running two instances of VMWare could actually outproduce a single Windows SMP client?

I suppose if there are no results yet, I could run some quick'n'dirties next week, once I swap all my parts around. I'm putting together my second quad hopefully this weekend, so it wouldn't be hard for me to run them both at stock speeds for a week and compare notes.
I've never bothered with log files, though, so I may need a walkthrough on the Linux side to collect data.
 
the last time i ran the Linux client FAH created the log file its self and it was just in the directory that you ran it from.

this would be an interesting comparison, I'm curious.
 
They won't be 100% identical, but nothing significant. They'll both be on unactivated XP32 installs.

Here's what I'm thinking:
1: VMWare, 2x Ubuntu (installed, not live)
Q6600 B3
4GB (3.xx, 4x1gb), DDR2-800
P965, Abit
7200.10 (500gb)

2: WinSMP
Q6600 B3
2GB (2x1gb), DDR2-533. I'll probably make it 3GB (additional 2x512), just to make it more of an apples-to-apples.
G965 IGP, Assus (sic)
7200.9 (250gb)

I love 100F weather, so long as it's dry. :) I'm hoping my room turns into a sauna. :D

BTW, I tend to get sidetracked easily. I'll ask one of you guys to PM me this weekend and next to remind me, if you could.
