How well can Quad Sli 295s handle 1440p or 1600p?

Playable framerates or is it gonna be rough?

they can't because you can't quad sli a card that already has 2gpus on it. two 295s in sli might be able to but I wouldn't count on it scaling was kinda poor back in that generation.

that's what I meant, 2 295s (which we be SLI technically but equate to 4 gpus)

And I'm also aware of the scaling being horrendous, but was just curious if they could at least play 1440p with pretty decent settings on most games, or if they would have trouble.

I can't really find any benchmarks for some reason. It's like people get rid of old benchmarks on the internet or something.

There weren't too many monitors that resolution around when the gtx295 was current, so finding those benchmarks are pretty unlikely, but probably not impossible. I found guru3d had a review for a single gtx295 that went up to 2560x1600, and even then some of the games were showing memory limitations.

Depending on the level of AA and the game you're playing, you're likely to run into memory limitations seeing as it only has 896MB of ram per gpu. Your best bet would be to lower the resolution with that configuration.

Ahh thanks for the review, That's a lot of useful info for me! It looks like in quad sli they are limited by the vram like you said, what a bummer. I guess that is the deal with older tech though :p But it looks like they have similiar performance to a single 580, and for the price I paid for them, that is quite nice for me :)

Looks like I'll probly lose the money I saved in power consumption in like a month though, but it's alright haha :)

Haha, I may consider folding on them, although the power usage would be insane. Literally. Like 40 cents an hour of folding. haha

the power consumption for these is insane. I wish I could afford them back in the day, Or even the equivilent to them now, haha. But i can settle for old stuff. its neat :)

I think that is more limitations of the CPU's of the era. When the first Core i7 CPU's came out, SLI benchmarks skyrocketed to 100% or over 100% scaling in some cases. Also games now are better capable of scaling now, which isn't GPU dependent.

I am curious to see the SLI scaling of 295's with a modern quad core CPU.

Well, The reviews from guru were with a i7 965 oc'd to 4ghz. That's as modern as it's gonna get. I doubt something like sandy bridge or even sb-e would make that much of a difference. Driver scaling is a whole different story. That can make huge differences. But drivers tend to be GPU specific a lot of times, so for 295s that might not help.

I have a feelign they are not gonig to scale too much better, but I've been asking a lot of people on OCN who are running quad 295 and they are saying they have no issues with 1440p with little AA (it's not needed at that resolution immo)

According to some members over at OCN that I pm'd that had that setup they were running on 1440p and 1600p no problems, except for bumping up those AA settings like I said.

Im not even sure I'd go wit 1440p at this point, I only ask cause I was lokoing at those korean monitors and I wanted to know if my 295 quad sli would handle it.
I'll most likely remain at 1080p for a while anyways so It shouldn't matter too much.
