Hey people,

I just got a real case for my quad GPU machine and thought you might be entertained by some pictures, before and after:

This is, as the title suggests, 4 PNY 8800GTs. Currently running a dual core AMD cpu, but I'm considering upgrading to a Quad, and running an SMP client as well..

I have 4 scythe fans in this new case, all 120mm, all at ~ 60cfm, plus the 140mm fan on top, running at around the same rate. This case has dropped GPU temps considerably, which was an issue running 4 single slot GPUs 24/7, overclocked.

Those numbers are from the top card to the bottom card, notice #3 is hottest, due to lower airflow. All these cards are doing 5k ppd.

Do your neighbors complain to the FAA about noise from the jets? ;)
I bet you could hook the fan outlets to your ductwork and never turn your furnace on this winter.

I have experimented with placing the front of the case right next to the central air floor duct, to lower ambient temps.... It does seem to help considerably...

Just don't forget to move your computer when you turn your heat on in the winter;)

I've only got one PNY 8800GT GPU card (I've only got one PCIe slot also). I've been seriously considering going to a multi PCIe mobo because the price of CUDA capable cards keeps comin' down.

What I was wondering if you were to under clock your mem and core would it lower your temps I was also wondering what your shaders were if they were OC'ed :confused:
I hate to be bias (I have PNY card also), but that's one fine lookin' boxen :p

I would also like to add that I like how you cut out the hole in the lexan for the original case. Cutting that stuff so it looks nice is so tough. Your vent has some character to it and I thought that was kinda funny

how big is that case compared to the Antec 300? it looks about the same size but i am unsure?
 
Shaders are at 1782 for now, core is stock at 600

I decided to spring for the ASUS board because the MSI board that is so popular has a heat pipe that interferes with the #1 PCIx16 slot.

As for the hole in the lexan, that was a painful process - that hole was created with a small drillbit, used over and over again. I did it temporarily to suspend the fan over the cards. I have since purchased a hole saw @ 116mm, it's close enough to allow the 120mm fan plenty of air, and it makes pretty holes!

I have another folding rig that is still using a lexan window... with a pretty hole. I may post pictures of that in the future.

Actually, this case isn't too loud - these scythe fans are impressive!

(I bought them in bulk, don't worry, I didn't pay $20 each!!!)
 
Very nice looking folding beast there!

I vote for putting a big red [H] on that lexan and reinstalling for some team folding pr0n pimpage.

You are right about the new Scythe fans, they are well built and make close to no noise considering the air they can move.

They are built by Panasonic / NMB with a Sony bearing and inspite of that they are great fans;)

 
Anyone notice the CPU box and two CPU fand in the right/middle of the third pic? Betcha another borg is beggin to be built...

Awesome rig you have there man!!! I'm glad the PNY's are working out for you. I just pulled mine out and replaced it with the Visontek 4850 BB special. The 8800GT was making my box unstable despite 16 hours of various tweaking.

I was skeptical about them, so I ordered them slowly. I have been very pleased with them, and their ability to overclock, considering the basic cooling solution they come with.

I am thinking about 9800gx2s for the next box.... or perhaps some ATI cards to switch up the game a bit... but at the moment this route is less expensive for 20k ppd / box.
 
Are you actually getting 20kppd from this box? That gives me high hopes for my quad 8800GS setup :)

5120ppd is about what I'm gettin' with my lonely single PNY 8800GT. (my shaders are 1809 and with a 480 pernt WU I get about the same) I gots to get a multi PCIe slot mobo (that ASUS mobo looks mighty fine ;) ). I needs to give my GT some company. (hey, maybe they'll breed :rolleyes:, easier on the pocketbook) :D

That's what I wanted to ask, have you seen any litttle PNY 8800GT's runnin' around, or climbing on your curtains or "snatchin' crumbs from your hands (only funnin' :p)
