In the market for one of these aspire cases, everyone says its really cheap material, I was wondering if it would be a good idea to weld or solder on a stronger handle, or maybe reinforce the case material a bit. Any suggestions or is this an extremely stupid idea?
 
The aluminum is only 1mm thick. But that has nothing to do with the case handle on the x-Qpack. The handle is plastic and is only attached to the plastic face plate. (There are 4 tabs and 4 screws that hold the face plate on.)

When everything is installed and the case is buttoned up, it is alot more sturdy.
 
thanks for the info, would you reccomend using the plastic handle or might it be better to attach a stronger one to the aluminum part of the case?
 
personally i wouldent risk a $1000+ weight of 15 or so lbs after all the hardware is installed to a plastic handle attached to a plastic front (part of the reason i bought a hornet pro insted)... i would defeanatly mount a new handle on the top metal aluminium.... that is if you care about your investment in your computer...
 
Do what I'm planning to. Go to Home Depot, by some door handles, and mount one on either side of the top window.
 
I wouldnt trust a handle mounted anywhere on this case. What I do for transporting my rig is to bag it and put the styrofoam pieces on it and back into the original box. Then I carry that box in my arms like a new born baby. I just dont trust any handles when something like this is involved.
 
With a case this size you don't need a handle, you can easily carry it under one arm. I do it with my aria all the time, and this case is only 1" bigger each way.
