Wow they have really done an awesome job with the firmware.

VAAI for iscsi and NFS. Also they have added SSD cache options. I have a whole bunch of these as backup NASes and I love em.
 
Do you find thin provisioned disks on VMware are changed to thick when on a Qnap device?

Interesting. It looks like the SSD Caching option is only on the X70, X79 units that have real Core i series processors, and definitely are the higher end ones. But that's a NIFTY feature for this caliber of a device.

I haven't really looked at that.

NFS is always thin. Iscsi I never set up as thin so I don't know when I started using these they didn't support thin iscsi.

I have about 10 of these at different clients.

The new 879 that I have now they also added 2 more nics.
