very interesting! too bad they didn't make any room for a 3rd hard drive... think - 1 for system, 2 in mirror for data...

actually, i'm pretty sure that set up allows 4 hardrives

when is this case available? it looks radical.
 
you can fit in 5 if you use the external 3.5" bay six if you use one of the 5.25 bays.
 
I think the case generally looks rather nice.

however, two things bother me in slight-ways. First, the hard drive retention system looks a little flimsy to me. I'm sure it'll do just fine, but how it looks right now, just worries me some...

second, I don't understand their logic behind the black reset switch bezel. They say it's because they figure that people will go with black drives over beige, but they do make silver drives of all types, thus allowing a roughly-matching color to the case itself.

Those are my only nitpicks though.

Yeah, I can't decide If I should get my Sg01 now, or wait for the Qmicra to drop in price, adn the Li Li to come out.

im quite impressed by the looks of the guts. but of course theres always one thing you gotta ask about. wouldnt having the hard drive rack hanging like that create a lot of vibration?
 
Have to say that now i've seen it in the flesh I think it looks a lot better than I had thought. There is potential :)
 
Yup, I'm surprised on how roomy it is inside. If the Zalman 9500 fits, then I'm sure most of the others will fit too. I just hope that the price is right.
 
don't hold your breath...quality costs in the world of metals. It might come down after a few runs though.

I would tend to think it would.

But with the 4 fans in it already, this case appears to be geared more towards raw cooling through higher airflow anyway, as opposed to the conventional coolnquiet sff/sffwannabe setups like the evolution or xqpack.

The system that QMICRA is sending me to review will be BLACK - so you won't have to wait much longer!

I have 4 hard drives here (2 74gb Raptors) and (2) 160GB SATA2 - so I'll definitely through them all in to test it out as well as SLI :cool:
 
Have to say that if they sacrificed the FDD bay could have got a front 120mm fan
 
I have to say, real pics with real computer parts is impressive, I like whats i see. showing off the 9500 in there is a nice touch. Now all we can do is wait for it to actually hit store shelves.

It's amazing what the pictures do for this case. As I have thought all along, this case is definitely worth serious thought. It seems that some people who early on dismissed this case are coming around.

I will be buying one, no matter the cost, as I like to support the little guy and even better that the case is made in the US.

Yeah, I will probably buy one too...they have good ethics it seems and a good look :cool:

I know the feeling. I just bought an SG01 that i might have to put up in the for sale forum along with my old qpack.
 
Dang. I am building the SG01 right now, but damn! That case looks sweet. If this Silverstone doesn't work out, I will be swapping for the Qmicra. I love the rails/handles at the top of the case and the amount of space between the PSU and the DVD drive. Very impressed.

haha, well, it won't be priced right at first. In fact, many people are probably going to be heartbroken when they see $300+ for this sucker....The SG01 started at 299 though so it shouldn't be a huge shocker.
 
Anyone that has an SG01-Evolution to unload when this case comes out, then send me a PM. ;)

Anyhow, I'm amazed at how quickly opinions of this case have changed since I last posted the render thread! Everyone wasn't ganking this case, and now you like it!

the casing on this thing is fugly
 
I am not to big on the looks of it, but the design is nice. I think the best looking SFF is the Sg01.
 
well everyone is going to have different thoughts...i bet some people would like the looks of a black one of these or blue or something...some will always hate the look...some will always love it. Sounds like its on par with every other case.

I think Dave from PCD Lab said it best, "Ok... so the Qpack looks like a lunchbox... the SG01 looks like a toaster... and Qmicra looks like a toolbox. We can live with that since the toolbox clearly has the sturdiest construction."

Like I've said before, I am waiting for the black version before I make my final judgement on the aesthetics of this case. Although Dave kinda turned me off when he said they were keeping the Drive Covers/Handels Silver on the black version. Maybe I misinterpreted.
